

This showcase celebrate a collaboration between the DCCoI CRAFTed primary schools programme and the EYCH. Schools across the country responded to the theme Making Places: Sharing Heritage. The event will take place in Narrative4 which is located in the old Limerick library building, a fitting venue, as the theme for Heritage Week 2018 is Sharing Stories. The week is a chance to share heritage stories in new ways. A number of events will take place in the space for the duration of the week. These include an object story exchange led by Narrative4. There will also be a number of craft and design based workshops which focus the learning that happens when we embrace discovery, creativity and experimentation. All events are offered free of charge for National Heritage Week.

The event will open on the 18th of August with lots of great drop in craft activities running from 12noon to 4pm. Come along and try your hand at weaving, printing, clay and more!
Suitable for all ages and no need to book.

Cré – Clay Connections Workshop
Come explore the theme of connections with artist Mary Conroy. Learn traditional hand building techniques in clay, reflect on what heritage means to you and importantly have fun discovering your creative side!

Storytelling Workshop: Experience a Narrative 4 Story Exchange
Stories. We all have them. Narrative 4 is a global organisation founded by writers that uses the power of stories to foster empathy and build community in a fun and creative way. This workshop will introduce you to the power of stories and allow you to hone your storytelling skills. Miotal – Metal Connections Workshop
Develop a design in response to the rich heritage of Irish metalwork. Using the traditional techniques of texturing, stamping and forging impress your own unique design into copper alloy to create a pendant/keyfob/earrings.
